The Toubkal Peak (4167 m.)its located in the Western High Atlas and one of the greatest mountain range of North Africa, is perhaps the most beautiful and intriguing part of Morocco. It has retained its remoteness, which until recent decades was virtually complete. Villages here have changed very little over the centuries. Outsiders to the mountains are instantly surprised when they encounter the friendliness and openness of the villagers, as the inhabitants go about their daily business. Hiking in the High Atlas is one of the best possible experiences in Morocco – feasible exploration of stunning natural beauty, and a rigidly individual world regardless of the levels of fitness to this area are accessible to all. There are wide ranges of trekking possibilities, from a short ramble through the villages that surround the Kasbah, to more demanding multi-day treks. Mule support can be arranged for bags and hikers, which opens up more opportunities. The mule trails around the valleys are well maintained and kept in excellent condition. The M'Goun Peak (4,071) in the heart of the High Central Atlas, is the second highest Peak in North Africa and the most demanding mountain range in Morocco. As you uncover its many unsuspecting treasures - plentiful rivers and gorges as well as lakes decorate the wild canyons. You will come across the indigenous tribes who inhabitant these valleys. The summit of M’Goun offers impressive panoramic views of the surrounding country and even the Sahara Desert. The ascent is spectacular and, in the summer, hiking is particularly popular. THE El Ayachi Peak (3,737 m.) is the highest peak in the Eastern High Atlas range and marks the last frontier before crossing into the heart of old Morocco. Here, amid the immeasurable silence of the pre-Sahara, is an all-forgotten world of fortified villages (Ksour) and Berber castles (Kasbahs). High peaks force the clouds to disperse large amounts of rainfall; therefore, the High Atlas has many fertile valleys surrounded by rivers and waterfalls. It is an awesome land of breathtaking mountains through which rivers have driven two thin wedges of fertility, as enticing as any mirage. Note: All of our programs can be combined and fully customized to fit your needs. Please contact us for detailed program descriptions and prices.
