Marrakech - Imlil - Aroumd - Sidi Chamharouch - Toubkal Refuge You will be picked up from your hotel in Marrakech and accompanied by a mountain guide, travel in a private car through gorges and high mountain passes to the Berber village of Imlil (1740m). Imlil is set in the upper level foothills of the Western High Atlas mountains. Here you will start your journey on foot for about 4km up to the Berber village of Aroumd and the hamlets of Taourirt, Targa, and Imoula. You shall stop at Aroumd to visit this rather singular village in the Assif Aït Mizane Valley. Proceed a further distance of 8 km to the village of Sidi Chamharouch. You will then take a break to enjoy a picnic lunch in a spot from where you can get an excellent view of the mighty Jbel Toubkal, the highest peak in the Maghreb. Later, set off for the Toubkal Refuge for dinner, and spend the night there. The Toubkal Refuge camp is a comfortable place offering modern amenities. Toubkal Refuse - Summit Jbel Toubkal - Sidi Chamharouch – Aroumd - Imlil - Marrakech. After an early breakfast, set out to witness a spectacular sunrise. It is a 3 hour steep climb up to the the highest peak in the Maghreb (4167m) and enjoy the spectacular views from there. Having spent some time at the top, start your descent along the South Cirque back to the Toubkal Refuge for a picnic. Then set off towards the north along steeply descending, zigzagging trails on the higher slopes of the Valley of the Assif n’lsouhouanem n’Ouagounss towards the Berber village of Sidi Chamharouch (3106m). Before entering the village, notice a tree, sacred to the local Berbers. Then descend down zigzagging trails around granite and basalt grey rocks for about 8km to a remarkable village of Aroumd, commanding one of the more fertile valleys of the High Atlas mountains with terraced, irrigated plots and fields of maize, onions and fruit trees on all sides. Stop for a picnic prior to continuing on along the floor of the valley to the Berber village of Imlil. Enjoy mint tea in the home of senior guide Mohammed Aït Idar. You will then set out in your private vehicle for the return journey to Marrakech. The tour ends at your hotel in Marrakech.

Day 1 : Marrakech - Imlil - Aroumd - Sidi Chamharouch - Toubkal Refuge You will be picked up from your hotel in Marrakech at 0800h (08:00 am). You will travel in a private car accompanied by an English-speaking guide. Drive through the Moulay Brahim Gorges and the Upper valleys to reach the Berber trailhead village of Imlil (1740m), known as Morocco’s ‘Little Chamonix’, with streams and paths branching out in all directions. Here, with Jbels Toubkal, Aguelzim (3547m) and Aksouâl (3847m) looming over us, we shall leave our vehicle to take a welcome glass of mint tea in our gite d’étape. Following this we start our hike. 4 kilometers will bring us to the Assif n’Aït Mizane Valley and the Berber villages of Aroumd (Aremd) (1843m), whose pisé terraced housing perches on a moraine spur. Continue through Taourirt, Targa and Imoula to the equally-quaint sacred village of Sidi Chamharouch, set beside a waterfall and small stream. A further 8km through beautiful countryside brings us to a stop for our welcome picnic prior. Once refreshed we will follow steep mule tracks for some 3 hours to the Toubkal (ex Neltner). Here we will find the refuge where we stay for the night. Day 2 : Toubkal Refuge - Tizi n’Ounoums - Assif Aït Mizane Valley - Toubkal Refuge A very early breakfast to set out at around 5 in the morning to witness a spectacular sunrise and attain, after a 3hour steep climb, the highest peak in the Maghreb (4167m). The panorama from the summit is simply stunning. This remarkable climb and view is really worth the effort. The first recorded climb of this peak (in 1923) was made by the French mountaineers V. Berger, M. Doubleau and the intrepid Marquis de Segonzae. Whenever you are ready, we shall descend via the Ikkhibi Sud – or South Circuit – for a straightforward (with your guide) 2 to 3 hour descent back to the Refuge and our picnic. This afternoon, we shall take a gentle hike south-eastwards up for a couple of hours to the head of the Assif Aït Mizane Valley and Tizi n’Ounoums (3664m) which, from this high point, gives us a tremendous view of the trail we’ve covered and of the distant cobalt green outline of Lake Ifni. When ready, we return to the Toubkal Refuge for our welcome dinner and overnight accommodation in the Refuge. Day 3 : Toubkal Refuge - Tizi n’Aguelzim - âazib Tamsoult Another early breakfast and we set off towards the north-west up, down and along the stark slopes via winding mule tracks to the Tizi n’Aguelzim (3560m) affording us yet another spectacular view of jagged peaks and verdant valleys. From here we trek down for some 3 hours via some 72 hairpin, zigzagging tracks to the âazib Tamsoult (2145m), where we shall picnic by a stream. In the afternoon we shall visit the Tamsoult (also known as Irhoulidene) Cascade (2200m). We shall then proceed to our dinner and accommodation, which tonight will be in a gîte d’étape. Day 4 :âazib Tamsoult - village of M’Zik - Imlil Valley - Marrakech After breakfast, and with the remarkable Jbel Toubkal overlooking us, we set off northwards along winding mule tracks worn into the stark slopes up to the Tizi M’Zik (2664m). We shall stop for our picnic near the Berber village of M’Zik with the beautiful Imlil Valley and the Adrars Algouli and El Hajj around us. Starting our homeward journey we follow mule tracks to the village Imir. Here our vehicle will be waiting for us to take us back to Marrakech

Day 1 : Marrakech - Moulay Brahim Gorges - Imi Ourghlad- Tizi n'Tacht - village of Tizziane You will be picked up from your hotel in Marrakech at 8am. Travel a private car accompanied by an English-speaking guide for an drive through the Moulay Brahim Gorges and the upper Valleys. You will arrive at the higher foothills of the western high Atlas mountains at the trail-head of Imi Ourghlad (1430m) Here we alight from our Vehicle and meet up with our Berber muleteer crew, which always be a fun part of the trek. We set off upwards in a northwesterly direction for a 2hour hike up through mule tracks to the Tizi n'Tacht (2000m), where you will stop for a picnic and admire the surrounding valleys and peaks. Once refreshed, take a slow hike southwest,along mule tracks to the red clay village of Tizziane (1730m) for our dinner campsite for the night Day 2 : village of Tizziane - Assif n'ouissedene Valley - Tizi n'Oussem - Tamsoult cascade - Aazib After breakfast, set off on an interesting 3 hours hike up along the Assif n'ouissedene Valley, passing through almond groves and several berber villages. The route travels through the Tizi n'Oussem, on to the Hamlet of Tissi Oussem (1800m) and the Aaazib Tamsoult (2250m), where we'll stop for our picnic. From here we hike for another 2 hours to the Tamsoult cascade . Admire the waterfall before continuing back down for an another hour to the Aazib for dinner and overnight camping above the Assif n'Ouarzane Valley. Day 3 : Aazib - Tizi Aguelzim -Toubkal Refuge After breakfast, set out eastwards on a moderately difficult hike up winding mule tracks to Tizi Aguelzim (3104m) with our picnic taken en route. Take a further 3 hours trek towards south-east to the Toubkal (ex Neltner) Refuge which marks the spring snowline at 3207m, where we shall have our dinner and camp for the night. Day 4 : Toubkal Refuge - Toubkal peak (4167m)- Sidi Chamharouch - Imlil Have a very early breakfast to set out around 05.00h to witness a spectacular sunrise, Then go for a three hours steep climb to reach the highest peak in the Maghreb (4167m). the panorama from here is simply stunning. This remarkable climb and view is what you have come so far for. After plenty of time to admire the view, descend back to the Refuge for a picnic, the walk will take around 2-3hours. After lunch we shall now set off towards the north along steeply descending, zigzagging trails of higher slopes of the valley of the Assif n'Isouhouanem towards the Berber village of sidi chamharouch. Continue down trails around granite and basalt grey rocks tell we arrive Berber village of Imlil (1740m) around 1700h. Day 5 : Imlil - Tizi n'Tamatert - Tacheddirt valley - Imlil - Marrakech After breakfast, set out towards the east on a moderate level hike up to the Tizi n'Tamatert and on down winding tracks to the Tacheddirt valley and finally to Assif Aguersioual Valley, where you stop for field picnic. This last part of your adventure is an a easy hike up to the oldest village in Toubkal Massif ,Tacheddirt(2400m). From here, to circle back alongside the lower slopes of the Jbel Aksoual Range to arrive back at Imlil. Here our Vehicle will be waiting to take us back to Marrakech

Toubkal trekking 6 days 5 nights

Day 1 MARRAKECH - SETTI FADMA - TIMICHI: You will be picked up from your hotel in Marrakech at 0800h (8am). Travel in a private car accompanied by a guide. You will pass through one of Morocco’s longest and most beautiful, refreshing valleys - the Ourika Valley - teeming with lush vegetation and Berber hamlets. The first hamlet we reach is a small Berber village of Dar Caïd Ouriki, with its kasbah and mosque. We also pass through Tiguemi n’Oumzilet, the ochre-red village of Akhlij where we will stops and the Berber hamlets of Asouqane and Aghbalou. Leaving this valley we carry on until we reach the riverside Berber hamlet of Setti Fadma. It is here that we will leave our vehicle and meet up with our Berber crew, to start our half day hike at a relatively easy pace. Our route will zigzag up the ever-narrowing riverside, taking us to a height of 500m where we will find a charming Berber village perched atop a huge, rocky buttress. Having taken a break for a picnic amidst surprising surroundings, we continue on up to the multi-layered terraced village of Timichi (1900m) for our dinner and overnight accommodation in a Berber family home. Should there be time, you can take a looping hike to visit the several Berber villages located around the hill. Day 2 TIMICHI - TACHEDDIRT - TIZI n’EDDI - OUKAÏMEDEN: After breakfast we set out for a walk along the green and vegetated to arrive at the Tizi n’Tacheddirt (3616m). Here we will enjoy a picnic in a setting which gives us spectacular views of the surrounding peaks and valleys. We start our descent through green terraced irrigated plots for further three hours until we reach the Berber village of Tacheddirt. From here we set out northwards to Tizi n’Eddi (2928m), to follow the ridge down the Oukaïmeden trail. The hike downhill takes around 3 hours and will bring us to our camp and dinner at Tizi n’Ouaättar Oukaïmeden (3000m). Day 3 OUKAïMEDEN - ASRTEQ - TIDILI - ARG: Today you set out in an eastwardly direction via zigzagging mule tracks down to the village of Asrteq (2200m), the last Berber dwelling in a stony corridor leading to the village of Tidili. Here we shall stop for a picnic prior to setting down on a long hike to the Berber village of Tinoughar, where we should see women herding cattle, centuries-old terraced irrigated fields and laughing children. From here we shall take a narrow, winding path down to the unique terraced village of Arg (1560m) to set up camp, after some 7 hours walking through impressive countryside and our welcome dinner Day 4 ARG - IMLIL - Amskrou - village of lkiss - village Taddert Set off after breakfast in a north-westerly direction up along a newly-opened piste through groves of almond trees of the Assif lmenane Valley. En-route we pass through the Berber village of Amskrou (Amskere) (1707m), to arrive at the village of lkiss (1740m) where we shall stop for a picnic amidst groves of almond trees growing along a river bank. In the afternoon we continue an afternoon hike up to the opposite side of the valley to cross through the Tizi n’Aguerssiouâl (1900m) and descend along the lmlil River to enjoy the view of the red-ochre village of Mattat. Further on we reach the village Taddert (1610m), it is here that we will stay overnight, enjoy dinner and a welcome hot shower in the Gïte d’étape of our senior guide, Mohammed Aït ldar. Day 5 IMLIL - AROUMD - SIDI CHAMHAROUCH - TOUBKAL REFUGE: After breakfast, we set out for about 4kms towards the south, up to the Berber villages of Aroumd (Aremd) (1843m) Taourirt, Targa, and lmoula. The route will take us up and down the stark slopes, all the time with the magnificent Western High Atlas peaks of the Toubkal Massif immediately before us. We shall stop at Aroumd to visit this rather singular village in the Assif n’Aït Mizane Valley, built seemingly house upon house on a large moraine spur, overlooking ancient irrigated terraced fields of fruit trees and vegetables. We carry on for a further 8kms to the equally-quaint village of Sidi Chamharouch, a Berber village set beside a waterfall and small stream, again with its pisé homes seemingly built somewhat chaotically one into another. We take a break for a picnic, with a full view of mighty Jbel Toubkal, at 4167m the highest peak in the Maghreb. Our last hike of the day takes us to the Toubkal Refuge for our dinner, and either our overnight campsite or overnight accommodation in the Refuge. Day 6 TOUBKAL REFUGE - SUMMIT JBEL TOUBKAL - SIDI CHAMHAROUCH - AROUMD - IMLIL - MARRAKECH: After a early breakfast, witness the spectacular sunrise and set off on a 3 hour steep climb which will take us to the highest peak in the Maghreb (4167m). You will have plenty of time to enjoy the view before taking the lkkhibi Sud or South Cirque for a straightforward 2 to 3 hour descent back to the Refuge for a picnic. Once refreshed we shall now set off towards the north along steeply descending, zigzagging trails of the higher slopes of the Valley of the Assif n’lsouhouanem n’Ouagounss towards the Berber village of Sidi Chamharouch (3106m). On leaving the village, we shall notice a tree, sacred to the local Berbers, where they hang strips of coloured cloth and pile up stones. We descend high above the valley of the Assif Mizane, down zigzagging trails around granite and basalt grey rocks back to the village of Aroumd (Aremd) (1840m), built on a spur of rock commanding one of the more fertile valleys of the High Atlas mountains with terraced, irrigated plots and fields of maize, onions and fruit trees on all sides. Here we shall stop for our picnic, before commencing the final part of the tour. Walk along the floor of the valley, then up a well-defined mule track zigzagging above the river to arrive in the Berber village of lmlil (1740m), with its paths and streams branching off in all directions. Here we will enjoy a hot shower and a glass of mint tea before our vehicle arrives to take us back to Marrakech.

We strike out to the village of Touroud to take the piste which leads up to the Tassa Ouirgane National Park. At the village of Tassa Ouir, we hike up between juniper and redwoods to stop for our picnic. Once refreshed, we set off up the slopes, through the village of lkoubline until we reach the pretty village of Tizziane for our dinner and overnight accommodation in a Berber Gîte d’étape. Day 2: After breakfast we set out on our 6 hour hike up to traverse the Tizi n’Touati and into the Assaka Plateau where we stop for our picnic. In the afternoon our route takes us down the higher slopes, passing by the âazib n’Assaka and down to the Valley of the Assif D’Knt and the Berber village of D’Knt. Continue along the valley, through fields of potato and barley to our dinner and campsite in the âazib n’Assouâl. Day 3: After Breakfast, we set out for a 5 hour hike further towards the south, along goat trails and stark winding slopes to traverse the Tizi n’Taghoudalalte. Here we will rest awhile to admire the view, before starting to descend amidst the juniper trees to our picnic site. From here we set off down to the head of the Valley of the n’Aït Ouissa’dane, crossing the river to hike alongside irrigation ditches and small mills towards the last village in this valley Tizi Oussem. Here we will find the Jbels Tasghimout to our left, Aguelzim and Tazaghârt to the right and it is here that we set up our campsite for the night and have dinner Day 4: After breakfast we set out on a 4½ hour trek to climb up the Aït Ouissa’dane Valley towards the peak of the Aoirir n’lrg. We will climb as far as âazib n’Tamsoult and from here we will gain a close-up view of the snow-capped Jbel Toubkal. From here we climb up to the Tamsoult Cascade, to continue up through the rocks to the final Tazaghârt refuge. Tonight’s dinner and accommodation will be in the refuge. Day 5: Today we will take a 7½ hour trek up steep off-the-beaten tracks to traverse the remote and challenging Tizi n’Taddate. We follow rarely trodden loose-pebbled goat trails to the Jbel Bignouissen and up to our picnic on this beautiful summit and sight of tomorrow’s challenge: Jbel Toubkal. Then to the Toubkal Refuge. Here we shall have tonight’s dinner, and overnight accommodation in the Refuge or under canvas. Day 6: An early breakfast and then set out at around 0500h (5am) for a 3 hour steep climb to Maghreb. We shall descend via the lkkhibi Sud - or South Circuit - for a straightforward 2 to 3 hour descent back to the Refuge and our picnic. This afternoon, we shall take a gentle hike south-eastwards up for a couple of hours to the head of the Assif Aït Mizane Valley and Tizi n’Ounoums. When ready, we return to the area of the Toubkal refuge for our welcome dinner, campsite or overnight accommodation in the refuge. Day 7: After breakfasted, we shall now set off on our final 4½ hour lap back towards the north along steeply descending, rocky, zigzagging and sometimes precarious trails of the higher slopes of the Valley of the Assif n’Isouhouanem n’Ouagounss - rich in seasonal wildflowers, some only to be found in this specific area, including, in spring, the splendid, multi-petalled Peony Rose - towards the Berber village of Sidi Chamharouchwhere we’ll stop for our picnic besides a small waterfall. On leaving the village, we shall notice a tree, sacred to the local Berbers, where they hang strips of colored cloth and pile up stones around the trunk. We descend for about 8kms. high above the valley of the Assif n’Aït Mizane, down zigzagging trails around granite and basalt grey rocks to Aroumd (Aremd) (1843m), built on a spur of moraine rock commanding one of the more fertile valleys of the High Atlas mountains with terraced, irrigated plots and fields of maize, onions and fruit trees on all sides. Continuing on through groves of almond and walnut trees for some 4kms along the floor of the valley, thence up a well-defined mule track zigzagging above the oued to arrive, finally, at the Berber village of Imlil (1740m), Morocco’s ‘Little Chamonix,’ we shall halt here to enjoy a glass of mint tea - or two - at the Gîte d’étape of our senior guide prior to rejoining our vehicle by around 4.30 to take us back to Marrakech.

We will climb as far as âazib n’Tamsoult and from here we will gain a close-up view of the snow-capped Jbel Toubkal. From here we climb up to the Tamsoult Cascade, to continue up through the rocks to the final Tazaghârt refuge. Tonight’s dinner and accommodation will be in the refuge. Day 5: Today we will take a 7½ hour trek up steep off-the-beaten tracks to traverse the remote and challenging Tizi n’Taddate. We follow rarely trodden loose-pebbled goat trails to the Jbel Bignouissen and up to our picnic on this beautiful summit and sight of tomorrow’s challenge: Jbel Toubkal. Then to the Toubkal Refuge. Here we shall have tonight’s dinner, and overnight accommodation in the Refuge or under canvas. Day 6: An early breakfast and then set out at around 0500h (5am) for a 3 hour steep climb to Maghreb. We shall descend via the lkkhibi Sud - or South Circuit - for a straightforward 2 to 3 hour descent back to the Refuge and our picnic. This afternoon, we shall take a gentle hike south-eastwards up for a couple of hours to the head of the Assif Aït Mizane Valley and Tizi n’Ounoums. When ready, we return to the area of the Toubkal refuge for our welcome dinner, campsite or overnight accommodation in the refuge. Day 7: After breakfasted, we shall now set off on our final 4½ hour lap back towards the north along steeply descending, rocky, zigzagging and sometimes precarious trails of the higher slopes of the Valley of the Assif n’Isouhouanem n’Ouagounss - rich in seasonal wildflowers, some only to be found in this specific area, including, in spring, the splendid, multi-petalled Peony Rose - towards the Berber village of Sidi Chamharouchwhere we’ll stop for our picnic besides a small waterfall. On leaving the village, we shall notice a tree, sacred to the local Berbers, where they hang strips of colored cloth and pile up stones around the trunk. We descend for about 8kms. high above the valley of the Assif n’Aït Mizane, down zigzagging trails around granite and basalt grey rocks to Aroumd (Aremd) (1843m), built on a spur of moraine rock commanding one of the more fertile valleys of the High Atlas mountains with terraced, irrigated plots and fields of maize, onions and fruit trees on all sides. Continuing on through groves of almond and walnut trees for some 4kms along the floor of the valley, thence up a well-defined mule track zigzagging above the oued to arrive, finally, at the Berber village of Imlil (1740m), Morocco’s ‘Little Chamonix,’ we shall halt here to enjoy a glass of mint tea - or two - at the Gîte d’étape of our senior guide prior to rejoining our vehicle by around 4.30 to take us back to Marrakech.

Marrakech - Imlil - Aroumd - Sidi Chamharouch - Toubkal Refuge You will be picked up from your hotel in Marrakech and accompanied by a mountain guide, travel in a private car through gorges and high mountain passes to the Berber village of Imlil (1740m). Imlil is set in the upper level foothills of the Western High Atlas mountains. Here you will start your journey on foot for about 4km up to the Berber village of Aroumd and the hamlets of Taourirt, Targa, and Imoula. You shall stop at Aroumd to visit this rather singular village in the Assif Aït Mizane Valley. Proceed a further distance of 8 km to the village of Sidi Chamharouch. You will then take a break to enjoy a picnic lunch in a spot from where you can get an excellent view of the mighty Jbel Toubkal, the highest peak in the Maghreb. Later, set off for the Toubkal Refuge for dinner, and spend the night there. The Toubkal Refuge camp is a comfortable place offering modern amenities. Toubkal Refuse - Summit Jbel Toubkal - Sidi Chamharouch – Aroumd - Imlil - Marrakech. After an early breakfast, set out to witness a spectacular sunrise. It is a 3 hour steep climb up to the the highest peak in the Maghreb (4167m) and enjoy the spectacular views from there. Having spent some time at the top, start your descent along the South Cirque back to the Toubkal Refuge for a picnic. Then set off towards the north along steeply descending, zigzagging trails on the higher slopes of the Valley of the Assif n’lsouhouanem n’Ouagounss towards the Berber village of Sidi Chamharouch (3106m). Before entering the village, notice a tree, sacred to the local Berbers. Then descend down zigzagging trails around granite and basalt grey rocks for about 8km to a remarkable village of Aroumd, commanding one of the more fertile valleys of the High Atlas mountains with terraced, irrigated plots and fields of maize, onions and fruit trees on all sides. Stop for a picnic prior to continuing on along the floor of the valley to the Berber village of Imlil. Enjoy mint tea in the home of senior guide Mohammed Aït Idar. Day 1 : Marrakech - Imlil - Aroumd - Sidi Chamharouch - Toubkal Refuge You will be picked up from your hotel in Marrakech at 0800h (08:00 am). You will travel in a private car accompanied by an English-speaking guide. Drive through the Moulay Brahim Gorges and the Upper valleys to reach the Berber trailhead village of Imlil (1740m), known as Morocco’s ‘Little Chamonix’, with streams and paths branching out in all directions. Here, with Jbels Toubkal, Aguelzim (3547m) and Aksouâl (3847m) looming over us, we shall leave our vehicle to take a welcome glass of mint tea in our gite d’étape. Following this we start our hike. 4 kilometers will bring us to the Assif n’Aït Mizane Valley and the Berber villages of Aroumd (Aremd) (1843m), whose pisé terraced housing perches on a moraine spur. Continue through Taourirt, Targa and Imoula to the equally-quaint sacred village of Sidi Chamharouch, set beside a waterfall and small stream. A further 8km through beautiful countryside brings us to a stop for our welcome picnic prior. Once refreshed we will follow steep mule tracks for some 3 hours to the Toubkal (ex Neltner). Here we will find the refuge where we stay for the night. Day 2 : Toubkal Refuge - Tizi n’Ounoums - Assif Aït Mizane Valley - Toubkal Refuge A very early breakfast to set out at around 5 in the morning to witness a spectacular sunrise and attain, after a 3hour steep climb, the highest peak in the Maghreb (4167m). The panorama from the summit is simply stunning. This remarkable climb and view is really worth the effort. The first recorded climb of this peak (in 1923) was made by the French mountaineers V. Berger, M. Doubleau and the intrepid Marquis de Segonzae. Whenever you are ready, we shall descend via the Ikkhibi Sud – or South Circuit – for a straightforward (with your guide) 2 to 3 hour descent back to the Refuge and our picnic. This afternoon, we shall take a gentle hike south-eastwards up for a couple of hours to the head of the Assif Aït Mizane Valley and Tizi n’Ounoums (3664m) which, from this high point, gives us a tremendous view of the trail we’ve covered and of the distant cobalt green outline of Lake Ifni. When ready, we return to the Toubkal Refuge for our welcome dinner and overnight accommodation in the Refuge. Day 3 : Toubkal Refuge - Tizi n’Aguelzim - âazib Tamsoult Another early breakfast and we set off towards the north-west up, down and along the stark slopes via winding mule tracks to the Tizi n’Aguelzim (3560m) affording us yet another spectacular view of jagged peaks and verdant valleys. From here we trek down for some 3 hours via some 72 hairpin, zigzagging tracks to the âazib Tamsoult (2145m), where we shall picnic by a stream. In the afternoon we shall visit the Tamsoult (also known as Irhoulidene) Cascade (2200m). We shall then proceed to our dinner and accommodation, which tonight will be in a gîte d’étape. Day 4 :âazib Tamsoult - village of M’Zik - Imlil Valley - Marrakech After breakfast, and with the remarkable Jbel Toubkal overlooking us, we set off northwards along winding mule tracks worn into the stark slopes up to the Tizi M’Zik (2664m). We shall stop for our picnic near the Berber village of M’Zik with the beautiful Imlil Valley and the Adrars Algouli and El Hajj around us. Starting our homeward journey we follow mule tracks to the village Imir. Here our vehicle will be waiting for us to take us back to Marrakech

Day 1 : Marrakech - Moulay Brahim Gorges - Imi Ourghlad- Tizi n'Tacht - village of Tizziane You will be picked up from your hotel in Marrakech at 8am. Travel a private car accompanied by an English-speaking guide for an drive through the Moulay Brahim Gorges and the upper Valleys. You will arrive at the higher foothills of the western high Atlas mountains at the trail-head of Imi Ourghlad (1430m) Here we alight from our Vehicle and meet up with our Berber muleteer crew, which always be a fun part of the trek. We set off upwards in a northwesterly direction for a 2hour hike up through mule tracks to the Tizi n'Tacht (2000m), where you will stop for a picnic and admire the surrounding valleys and peaks. Once refreshed, take a slow hike southwest,along mule tracks to the red clay village of Tizziane (1730m) for our dinner campsite for the night Day 2 : village of Tizziane - Assif n'ouissedene Valley - Tizi n'Oussem - Tamsoult cascade - Aazib After breakfast, set off on an interesting 3 hours hike up along the Assif n'ouissedene Valley, passing through almond groves and several berber villages. The route travels through the Tizi n'Oussem, on to the Hamlet of Tissi Oussem (1800m) and the Aaazib Tamsoult (2250m), where we'll stop for our picnic. From here we hike for another 2 hours to the Tamsoult cascade . Admire the waterfall before continuing back down for an another hour to the Aazib for dinner and overnight camping above the Assif n'Ouarzane Valley. Day 3 : Aazib - Tizi Aguelzim -Toubkal Refuge After breakfast, set out eastwards on a moderately difficult hike up winding mule tracks to Tizi Aguelzim (3104m) with our picnic taken en route. Take a further 3 hours trek towards south-east to the Toubkal (ex Neltner) Refuge which marks the spring snowline at 3207m, where we shall have our dinner and camp for the night. Day 4 : Toubkal Refuge - Toubkal peak (4167m)- Sidi Chamharouch - Imlil Have a very early breakfast to set out around 05.00h to witness a spectacular sunrise, Then go for a three hours steep climb to reach the highest peak in the Maghreb (4167m). the panorama from here is simply stunning. This remarkable climb and view is what you have come so far for. After plenty of time to admire the view, descend back to the Refuge for a picnic, the walk will take around 2-3hours. After lunch we shall now set off towards the north along steeply descending, zigzagging trails of higher slopes of the valley of the Assif n'Isouhouanem towards the Berber village of sidi chamharouch. Continue down trails around granite and basalt grey rocks tell we arrive Berber village of Imlil (1740m) around 1700h. Day 5 : Imlil - Tizi n'Tamatert - Tacheddirt valley - Imlil - Marrakech After breakfast, set out towards the east on a moderate level hike up to the Tizi n'Tamatert and on down winding tracks to the Tacheddirt valley and finally to Assif Aguersioual Valley, where you stop for field picnic. This last part of your adventure is an a easy hike up to the oldest village in Toubkal Massif ,Tacheddirt(2400m). From here, to circle back alongside the lower slopes of the Jbel Aksoual Range to arrive back at Imlil. Here our Vehicle will be waiting to take us back to Marrakech

Day 1 MARRAKECH - SETTI FADMA - TIMICHI: You will be picked up from your hotel in Marrakech at 0800h (8am). Travel in a private car accompanied by a guide. You will pass through one of Morocco’s longest and most beautiful, refreshing valleys - the Ourika Valley - teeming with lush vegetation and Berber hamlets. The first hamlet we reach is a small Berber village of Dar Caïd Ouriki, with its kasbah and mosque. We also pass through Tiguemi n’Oumzilet, the ochre-red village of Akhlij where we will stops and the Berber hamlets of Asouqane and Aghbalou. Leaving this valley we carry on until we reach the riverside Berber hamlet of Setti Fadma. It is here that we will leave our vehicle and meet up with our Berber crew, to start our half day hike at a relatively easy pace. Our route will zigzag up the ever-narrowing riverside, taking us to a height of 500m where we will find a charming Berber village perched atop a huge, rocky buttress. Having taken a break for a picnic amidst surprising surroundings, we continue on up to the multi-layered terraced village of Timichi (1900m) for our dinner and overnight accommodation in a Berber family home. Should there be time, you can take a looping hike to visit the several Berber villages located around the hill. Day 2 TIMICHI - TACHEDDIRT - TIZI n’EDDI - OUKAÏMEDEN: After breakfast we set out for a walk along the green and vegetated to arrive at the Tizi n’Tacheddirt (3616m). Here we will enjoy a picnic in a setting which gives us spectacular views of the surrounding peaks and valleys. We start our descent through green terraced irrigated plots for further three hours until we reach the Berber village of Tacheddirt. From here we set out northwards to Tizi n’Eddi (2928m), to follow the ridge down the Oukaïmeden trail. The hike downhill takes around 3 hours and will bring us to our camp and dinner at Tizi n’Ouaättar Oukaïmeden (3000m). Day 3 OUKAïMEDEN - ASRTEQ - TIDILI - ARG: Today you set out in an eastwardly direction via zigzagging mule tracks down to the village of Asrteq (2200m), the last Berber dwelling in a stony corridor leading to the village of Tidili. Here we shall stop for a picnic prior to setting down on a long hike to the Berber village of Tinoughar, where we should see women herding cattle, centuries-old terraced irrigated fields and laughing children. From here we shall take a narrow, winding path down to the unique terraced village of Arg (1560m) to set up camp, after some 7 hours walking through impressive countryside and our welcome dinner Day 4 ARG - IMLIL - Amskrou - village of lkiss - village Taddert Set off after breakfast in a north-westerly direction up along a newly-opened piste through groves of almond trees of the Assif lmenane Valley. En-route we pass through the Berber village of Amskrou (Amskere) (1707m), to arrive at the village of lkiss (1740m) where we shall stop for a picnic amidst groves of almond trees growing along a river bank. In the afternoon we continue an afternoon hike up to the opposite side of the valley to cross through the Tizi n’Aguerssiouâl (1900m) and descend along the lmlil River to enjoy the view of the red-ochre village of Mattat. Further on we reach the village Taddert (1610m), it is here that we will stay overnight, enjoy dinner and a welcome hot shower in the Gïte d’étape of our senior guide, Mohammed Aït ldar. Day 5 IMLIL - AROUMD - SIDI CHAMHAROUCH - TOUBKAL REFUGE: After breakfast, we set out for about 4kms towards the south, up to the Berber villages of Aroumd (Aremd) (1843m) Taourirt, Targa, and lmoula. The route will take us up and down the stark slopes, all the time with the magnificent Western High Atlas peaks of the Toubkal Massif immediately before us. We shall stop at Aroumd to visit this rather singular village in the Assif n’Aït Mizane Valley, built seemingly house upon house on a large moraine spur, overlooking ancient irrigated terraced fields of fruit trees and vegetables. We carry on for a further 8kms to the equally-quaint village of Sidi Chamharouch, a Berber village set beside a waterfall and small stream, again with its pisé homes seemingly built somewhat chaotically one into another. We take a break for a picnic, with a full view of mighty Jbel Toubkal, at 4167m the highest peak in the Maghreb. Our last hike of the day takes us to the Toubkal Refuge for our dinner, and either our overnight campsite or overnight accommodation in the Refuge. Day 6 TOUBKAL REFUGE - SUMMIT JBEL TOUBKAL - SIDI CHAMHAROUCH - AROUMD - IMLIL - MARRAKECH: After a early breakfast, witness the spectacular sunrise and set off on a 3 hour steep climb which will take us to the highest peak in the Maghreb (4167m). You will have plenty of time to enjoy the view before taking the lkkhibi Sud or South Cirque for a straightforward 2 to 3 hour descent back to the Refuge for a picnic. Once refreshed we shall now set off towards the north along steeply descending, zigzagging trails of the higher slopes of the Valley of the Assif n’lsouhouanem n’Ouagounss towards the Berber village of Sidi Chamharouch (3106m). Here we will enjoy a hot shower and a glass of mint tea before our vehicle arrives to take us back to Marrakech.

Toubkal Hiking 7 days 6 nights

Day 1: You will be picked up from your hotel in Marrakech at 0800h (08:00 am). Travel south in a private car accompanied by an English-speaking guide over the Moulay Brahim Gorges and Upper valleys way up into the foothills of the Western High Atlas ranges, passing through Asni, where, to our left, we get our first real sight of mighty Jbel Toubkal and her sisters Aguelzim and Aksoual. We continue on to the Berber village of Ouirgane to meet up with our muleteers at the Hotel Au Sanglier Qui Fume, where we start our 6 hour hike. We strike out to the village of Touroud to take the piste which leads up to the Tassa Ouirgane National Park. At the village of Tassa Ouir, we hike up between juniper and redwoods to stop for our picnic. Once refreshed, we set off up the slopes, through the village of lkoubline until we reach the pretty village of Tizziane for our dinner and overnight accommodation in a Berber Gîte d’étape. Day 2: After breakfast we set out on our 6 hour hike up to traverse the Tizi n’Touati and into the Assaka Plateau where we stop for our picnic. In the afternoon our route takes us down the higher slopes, passing by the âazib n’Assaka and down to the Valley of the Assif D’Knt and the Berber village of D’Knt. Continue along the valley, through fields of potato and barley to our dinner and campsite in the âazib n’Assouâl. Day 3: After Breakfast, we set out for a 5 hour hike further towards the south, along goat trails and stark winding slopes to traverse the Tizi n’Taghoudalalte. Here we will rest awhile to admire the view, before starting to descend amidst the juniper trees to our picnic site. From here we set off down to the head of the Valley of the n’Aït Ouissa’dane, crossing the river to hike alongside irrigation ditches and small mills towards the last village in this valley Tizi Oussem. Here we will find the Jbels Tasghimout to our left, Aguelzim and Tazaghârt to the right and it is here that we set up our campsite for the night and have dinner Day 4: After breakfast we set out on a 4½ hour trek to climb up the Aït Ouissa’dane Valley towards the peak of the Aoirir n’lrg.
